Easter, summer and Christmas events planning underway

One of the BID’s big commitments is to a lively series of events in and around the town centre.

That’s why the team are already starting to make plans for next Christmas!

Easter fun

With Easter just around the corner, this is the main focus right now, and we’re going to be bringing you a host of Easter-bunny themed attractions and activities, including plenty of Peter Rabbit action.

Families can expect arts and crafts for the kids, face painting, a photo booth, story-telling sessions, a free film screening, and prizes for those who complete the ‘bunny trail’.

The fun will centre around Good Friday, so mark that in your diaries, but look out for more closer to the time.

Summer Sunday Street Entertainment

Throughout the summer months we’re aiming to bring life to the town centre every Sunday with a host of talented street performers coming along to entertain visitors and shoppers alike.

We’re already in talks with the team at the South Bank in London to see if we can encourage their performers down to the town, but we’ll also be putting out a call across the region to find local artists who can juggle, dance, sing or otherwise bring their talent to our programme of events.

If you are a performer or know of someone who might like to be a part of this drop a line to office@lovehastings.com.

Busking Code

In order to try and raise the bar throughout the year and cut down on complaints about regular buskers we’re also looking to introduce a voluntary ‘buskers code.’ This is currently under consultation and we’d welcome your thoughts on how it might work.

Christmas 2019

It may seem a long way away, but Christmas will be with us again before you know it. We’ve been listening to what shops and visitors want from the Christmas event that takes place around the time the lights go on, and this year we are looking to move it to the Saturday and extend activities throughout the day to give more people the opportunity to take part and enjoy the experience.

We invested in buying the Christmas lights last year in order to save money on rental over coming years and we hope to be able to expand the scheme further by purchasing a number of extra display pieces to ensure that the seasonal display gets brighter and brighter.
