Lyrically the band uses on-point humour, social comment and Albarn/Weller/Davies characterisations to investigate a dream-like version of a severely disenfranchised England. The Untied Kingdom is like a ‘where are they now’ response to the band’s 2012 release Postcards from the British Empire, offering a glance at how some of those characters are faring in modern Britain.
