Once aptly described as “Fairport Convention meets Cream”, Tabernacle is the loud and heavy brainchild of San Francisco folkies Walker Phillips and Caira Paravel, who each released well-received solo albums in 2019. Although they’ve swapped their acoustic guitars for Les Pauls and tube amplifiers, they’ve not strayed from their folk roots – Tabernacle’s repertoire consists exclusively of traditional folk ballads, many of which are hundreds of years old. The melodies and lyrics of these medieval ballads are retained, but the arrangements are re-imagined as futuristic proto-metal space journeys.
To support we have Sloth Metropolis, who are self described as a musical mythology & ongoing sloth-themed rock opera told in prog, psych, folk and paper mache.
