Rather than turn a blind eye, we are choosing not to show the World Cup at any Brewing Brothers locations this year.

For us, it’s not so much about boycotting this year’s World Cup as it is about making sure Brewing Brothers feels like a safe, peaceful and welcome space for all.

Football is supposed to bring people together — that includes everyone. We’re not experts on human rights but we do know that the way authorities in Qatar treat workers, women and people in the LGBTQ+ community is wrong. And whilst we acknowledge that nearly all sport and all countries partake in some form of corruption and human rights abuses, we feel it’s the right thing to do to take a stand against injustice.

With the cost of living crisis and the winter weather, this comes at a difficult time for those of us in the hospitality industry but at the end of the day, human and migrant rights are more important than football.

Absolutely no judgement to those of you watching the game this year but if you want to avoid the football, you can join us at The Courtyard, The Imperial or The Brewery Taproom.
