We are horrified by the events that took place last night in Colorado Springs, USA, on trans day of remembrance. When people spread hatred and misinformation about LGBTQ+ people, whether moral panics about drag brunches, fears of “grooming”, or relentless transphobia on social media, broadcast media & legacy media, it can lead to this.
More than ever, we must be loud and proud in our allyship (both as members of the LGBTQ+ community sticking up for one another, and as straight, cis allies) and we must challenge prejudice and discrimination wherever we find it.
RIP to those killed- and thoughts & hopes for recovery for those dozens injured.
The bravery of those who moved to suppress the shooter is incredible and heroic.
Let’s honour them & find bravery wherever we can in our own lives.
