No 4 Trinity St has pretty much been a cafe since the 1950s, possibly earlier! We received a nice surprise a few weeks ago when this handsome chap, Richard, stopped by out of curiosity, and to show his daughter his childhood home. His family used to run the café and lived above it in the 1950s, he had the attic room and used to sneak out onto the rooftops and bother the neighbours with his singing as a boy. The photo is from when he was in the local sea cadets. Back then, the place was named Kay Jay’s, most likely after his mother’s sister Kay and her husband Jack. Aunt Kay is in the second photo! It’s an immense privilege to be able to steer the shop onwards, and know that it’s been doing much the same job for decades.
