Artists living or working in or around Hastings were recently offered the chance to display their works on the backs of bus shelters around the town.
The currently empty 100cm x 62cm frames have been made available to the Love Hastings ‘Artshelter‘ project and provide a great opportunity to brighten up the area.
Any sort of work that can be reproduced on a poster was accepted – from watercolours, oil paintings, or sketches, to spray art, photos or digital designs.
Work will be rotated every few months, and artists who are chosen will receive £50 for each design they have featured.
‘This is another great example of how the money raised from local businesses can get used to make Hastings a brighter and more attractive place at the same time as supporting and promoting local artists.’
Catherine Parr, White Rock Hotel – Chair of Hastings Business Improvement District
Thanks for helping choose the artworks that will be displayed around Hastings. We will be making use of these pieces throughout the year and will display the ones with highest ratings from our reviewers.
Simply click on the heart (top-left of each picture as you hover over it, visible top-left if you expand a picture to full-screen, or at the bottom of the picture when viewed on a phone) and rate the image from 1-10...there are five stars but you can give a half-star vote.
If you want to score a 'zero' simply skip to the next image.
For the bus shelters we can only use portrait pictures or landscape images that can be cropped to fit. We will however be looking for other places to display these pictures where landscape oriented images can be used as they are.
