Town centre Christmas lights

At Love Hastings, we are responsible for choosing, buying and managing the Christmas lights programme for the town centre. The areas included in the programme are Robertson Street, Cambridge Road, Wellington Place, Castle Street and Queens Road.

In 2018 we chose to invest in brand new lights for Queens Road and Robertson Street, which marked the start of a more consistent and modern theme across the town centre.

As part of our ongoing commitment to continue to improve the programme, this year we have bought new lights for Castle Street, and invested in snowflake projectors, which can be spotted in Wellington Place and Robertson Street. We have also bought ‘uplighters’ for the Robertson Street Christmas tree, and have plans next year to invest in new twinkly lights for the tree, to improve the look and modernise it, alongside the column lights.

We will continue to invest in and improve the programme, however there are some areas such as Havelock Road, where the lamp columns are unable to take the weight of a Christmas light. We hope over time they will be upgraded, allowing us to extend the programme.

If you notice a Christmas light isn’t working, please let us know! The lights are installed and maintained by Hannington-Gilbert & Co, who are happy to come out to resolve any issues.
