Q-Arrr code-breaker scoops X-box pirate treasure

Hastings Pirate weekend saw one lucky buccaneer walk away with the grand prize of an X-Box X after she cracked the crafty ‘Q-Arrr code’ to find where ‘X marked the spot’.

The Pirate Parrot Treasure trail was put on by Love Hastings to encourage visitors to the town to explore more of the shops from Trinity Triangle to the top of Queens Road.

Winner, Demi Stillwell, said: “We’ve never won a competition before and it’s the best timing ever to win an X-Box X as our house flooded recently and took our PS4 with it!

“Pirate weekend was my first time in Hastings and I loved it! Such a great atmosphere and the treasure hunt was really fun to take part in as we got to see the town on our way round! We will definitely be back next year!”

John Bownas, Manager of Love Hastings had the prize forcibly removed from him at gunpoint on Hastings Pier by event organiser, Captain Anton Windsor and Miss Pirate Queen 2020, Charlotte Dean.

He said: “With a great prize like this up for grabs we made the trail a bit of a challenge this year to get people to explore the whole of the town centre, from Substance and The Hastings Bookshop in Trinity Triangle, right the way up to Preloved and Old Wood Works at the top of Queens Road.

“The whole weekend was fantastic, and it was brilliant to see so many people enjoying themselves and seeing Hastings at its very best in the glorious summer weather we laid on especially!”
